I know it wasn't scheduled or anything, but the sirens will be down at max until Saturday while we work on some upgrades to hardware, and prepare for our new system. Will keep you posted on this thread. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

EDIT : They are back online.

The Register reports that experts from some 30 organizations worldwide have compiled 2010's list of the 25 most dangerous programming errors along with a novel way to prevent them: by drafting contracts that hold developers responsible when bugs creep into applications.

I plan to do some work on the Sirens this Thursday (Feb 18) Friday (Feb 19). It will only be a couple hours but both the sirens and their gateway will be publicly inaccessable.

EDIT : Due to scheduling problems, I will be doing the Siren updates Friday. Sorry for any inconvenience.

EDIT : Sirens should now be back online.

The Roothack Siren wargames are now back up, after some much needed house-keeping and updates. As I speak, Ocyrus is redirecting the dns entry to point back at them.

Over the past couple of years, Roothack.org has been using Vmware Workstation to handle its wargames. We've built up quite a few machines and its getting pretty annoying having to take snapshots for people, revert their boxes, or even install a new OS. It requires us to manually use the vmware gui(pictured below) which has been getting the job done.
